How much did you cringe through Benedict Cumberbatchs Mad Libs skit?

Do you want to wince about Benedict Cumberbatch today? If so, keep reading. If you are a true-blue Cumberbitch, you might want to avert your eyes. I’ve always said and believed that Benedict is meant for talk shows in a way that Tom Hiddleston just isn’t. Benedict knows how to moderate himself and read the room, and he’s rarely “extra.” His appearances on the Graham Norton Show and some of the American talk shows are wonderful examples of this. He’s charming, funny and he can deliver an off-the-cuff quip. Tom Hiddleston, on the other hand, seems desperate, needy and trying-too-hard whenever he does anything on a talk show.

So, I don’t relish saying this, but Benedict Cumberbatch’s appearance on the Tonight Show last night made me cringe harder than anything Hiddles has ever done. Part of it isn’t even Bendy’s fault, it’s Jimmy Fallon’s fault for being a drunk child who can only play “games” rather than sit still for 10 minutes and interview someone properly. Then again, Bendy agreed to it. And it bombed. The first part is fine, it’s just Benedict saying random words. But by the time they get to the “Mad Libs Skit,” it’s just brutal in its lack of humor.

*CRINGE*

Jesus. That American accent, y’all. It’s rough. It’s so bad that I had to turn it off. Is this going to be the problem with Doctor Strange too? I’m worried. I’m also really worried about Saturday Night Live tomorrow, because if this was a preview… my God.

Fallon did interview Benedict properly before this though – this is your palate cleanser because some of us need it.
