Leah Remini Responds To Danny Mastersons Rape Charges And The Church Of Scientologys Involveme

King of Queens alum Leah Remini has spoken up about the rape charges filed against That 70’s Show star Danny Masterson. Remini – a vocal activist against the Church of Scientology – says that these charges are the beginning of the end for the controversial religion.

Remini was raised in Scientology and she became an active member of the church as an adult. However, she left the religion in 2013 and has made it her life’s mission to expose the alleged wrongdoings and abuse of the church and its leader, David Miscavige, including writing her memoir Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology.

Finally, victims are being heard when it comes to Scientology! Praise the lord! This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end! #justice #scientologytheaftermath https://t.co/oAFlIoWFYd

Masterson is a member of the Church of Scientology, and rumors have swirled for years that the organization has actively shielded the actor from sexual misconduct charges. After a lengthy investigation, this week the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office finally charged Masterson with forcibly raping three different women between 2001 and 2003 at his home in the Hollywood Hills.

When she found out about the news, Remini excitedly tweeted: “Finally, victims are being heard when it comes to Scientology! Praise the lord! This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end.”

According to Us Weekly, the charges were the result of four women coming forward in 2017 and accusing Masterson of rape. In 2019, those women sued Masterson, Miscavige, and the Church of Scientology and accused the organization of stalking and intimidating them in an attempt to obstruct justice in the criminal investigation.

Both Masterson and the Church of Scientology have denied the women’s allegations numerous times. Masterson’s lawyer Tom Mesereau said in a statement that the actor will be exonerated when he gets his day in court.

“Mr. Masterson is innocent, and we’re confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify,” said Mesereau in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed.”

Leah Remini investigated the allegations against Danny Masterson in her Emmy Award-winning A&E series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. In the two-hour series finale, Remini showed viewers “how Church of Scientology policies have hindered members from reporting instances of abuse and sexual assault to authorities.”
