North West: "I said no pictures"

In the past few years it seems that the Kardashian family have taken over the world of celebrity. Recently that attention has even been passed on to Kim and Kanye’s daughter, famously named North West. Whether she’s wearing controversial fur coats, playing a bit of piano or crying on the front row at Fashion Week, little North is being talked about.

 .

However, there are times when two-year-old North’s fame becomes questionable, specifically in that it is categorically inappropriate for a child to be hounded by paparazzi. This is exactly what is captured in the video below. Leaving a ballet class with her nanny, North is confronted by photographers and the toddler’s response is, “I said no pictures.” (You may need to turn the sound on in the bottom right-hand corner of the video).

Cute, a little bit funny, but did that video make you feel uncomfortable? In an already odd situation, the video takes an unsavoury turn as a bunch of men with cameras proceed to laugh at North’s response, continuing to take pictures of her against her will.

When you think about it, it’s actually quite sad that young North even knows how to respond, as if she’s familiar with this situation, which no two-year-old should be.

Of course, this is the world that North West has been born into, with her mother pushing her pram into crowds of photographers when North was only tiny. But that doesn’t make it right.

This short video has received lots of attention on the internet and has raised questions over whether there should be restrictions on the paparazzi photographing children. Currently in a poll by The Independent 94% of over 3800 voters have agreed that bans on paparazzi are necessary.

But with another Kimye baby on the way, it is likely that the media attention will only continue.
